I’ve had  the experience of holding the hand of my clients while they are experiencing a color emergency.  What is it about color that makes some of us react so strongly?  In the grand scheme of things, it’s just paint.  But why do so many get overwhelmed and afraid of color?

I believe that some people are more aware of the impact color can have on one’s mood.  When the wrong color is on the wall, it can be a flashing neon sign screaming, “NO!”  There are ways to create more stressful environments by creating tension with pattern and color.  Which means that there are also ways of creating more comforting environments by creating harmony with pattern, texture and color.

Most of my clients that are in the middle of their respective “crisis” about color, are there because they realize the impact the wrong color will have on their lives.  Don’t be upset by the fact that you are feeling emotional about your color selection.  It’s understandable and it can be a very emotional experience.  However, do you best to take a deep breath and follow your gut not your fear.

The quickest way I end a color emergency is by listening to my client and follow their nature and personality to find the perfect palette.  It’s usually right in front of them, but the fear is holding them back from going toward what they already know.  And most of the time all I do is use my experience to make minor adjustments to intensity or value to make it perfect.

No one knows your color more than you.  I’m just thrilled to have the right questions to ask in order to help you get there quickly.
